Great First Day of School

on September 3, 2013

I think we all had a great first day back to school!

It was great to get together again with one of our 2nd grade groups.  We had a great chance to try out the new partner yoga poses-

Row Your Boat

This back-to-back pose helped the students to be mindful of their breathing  with their partner

With this particular group it was felt that a review of tattling vs telling or reporting was in order.  First we read this book, Don’t Squeal Unless It’s a BIG Deal written by Jeanie Franz Ransom.  It is available on Amazon for less than $10.

I had so much fun reading the book and the students thought it was just great.  It is often difficult to decide if a problem is a big deal (emergency) or a kid-sized problem (solved on your own).

This game gave us practice by providing a problem and then the student decided if the problem was a big deal or a kid-sized problem.  We had some discussion about each one.

The activity was created by Angie Mickey and is available FREE at  The cards could be used with a whole class but are perfect for our small group social skills coaching.

We are off to a great start!

My Best,
